Hey there, raj4c9.

Would you please post a screenshot of what you see in Disk Management about both HDDs (you can use imgur.com to upload the image)? Have you had any other issues with that drive before this problem? Any unusual sounds coming from it, freezing your system, slow transfer speed, or anything else at all?

So the partition you are referring to has become unallocated all on its own? I mean you didn't reformat the drive or anything while you were trying to install Windows 7, right? If this is the case the partition might have become corrupted (although in similar cases it's usually in RAW format instead of unallocated), so you could try to access it via Ubuntu Live USB/DVD, to see if it's properly recognized and if you can...
Hey there, raj4c9.

So the partition you are referring to has become unallocated all on its own? I mean you didn't reformat the drive or anything while you were trying to install Windows 7, right? If this is the case the partition might have become corrupted (although in similar cases it's usually in RAW format instead of unallocated), so you could try to access it via Ubuntu Live USB/DVD, to see if it's properly recognized and if you can recover the files. Another option would be to try out data recovery software: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1644496/lost-data-recovery.html & http://pcsupport.about.com/od/filerecovery/tp/free-file-recovery-programs.htm, to see if you'd be able to retrieve the data this way. Just remember not to format and write anything on that drive so that you don't overwrite the data which you want to recover.
Ideally, if you have a spare drive (either an external or internal one) you could try cloning the problematic HDD and try to recover the data from the clone so that you still have the original drive and its data intact.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how it goes.
