I just ordered AIW radeon, will also by a hd for my captures, and here are my question: There are som disks that are specially for video, are there really any point in bying one, or are todays hd good enough ?
I don't know this from personal experience, but I read an article some years ago that spoke about SCSI A/V drives. I don't know how accurate the information is.
According to the article, hard disks are constantly checking and re-aligning their heads. This "self-correcting" can interrupt an A/V stream. SCSI A/V drives deliberately delay this activity for a certain amount of time. The article claimed that this actually made it easier to loose data. I've seen SCSI A/V drives for sale, but never a similar IDE drive.
