System that I have had for two years just now failed to hold "sleep" as I noticed when I came back home. I tried to reboot the system, and was presented with a warning regarding a possible voltage failure, system settings may not have been compatible with power, etc(a warning I had received before when the power had gone out in the apt in the occasional storm). System didn't boot but powered down and attempted to boot again. Did not go to BIOS, powered down. Tried again, got to BIOS, hung there, then powered down. Repeated that pattern (try, fail, try, BIOS, try, fail, try, BIOS) indefinitely. Manually powered off, unplugged from mains.
Took off all peripherals, no luck, same pattern. Now more "try, fail" iterations before getting to BIOS and then powering down.
Unplugged video card, HDD, and optical drive. Left CPU, memory in place, and tried to power on. Now it will not even reach BIOS, simple attempts to boot and fails.
So, has the power supply been toasted? I can't even test to see if this is the mobo as the damned thing couldn't even get past BIOS without powering down, but I am thinking it isn't, as it has been trucking along OK. No recent surges. Most recent change was 3 days ago, as I reseated a case fan that was acting up, seemed to be having trouble spinning up. Worked fine afterward. Also reseated the GPU as I figured I had it on the mobo's 8x PCI and had a 16x open, swapped it. Worked fine, no issues.
Build
GIGABYTE GA Z68X-UDH3-B3
i5-2500K, OC to 4.0 (about 1.33 years ago), no voltage changes, only multiplier
Corsair Vengeance 2X4GB, 1333
WD Black Caviar 1TB
EVGA GTX 570 Superclocked
Corsair GS800
More info
CPU fan is spinning up, but rather weak, as are case fans
