So I recently upgraded from a HDD to an SSD, however I wanted to keep my HDD in my PC to install games on.
I only had 1 set of cables (Power and SATA) for storage so I swapped the cables going to the HDD to the SSD until I found another set of cables. At this point the only storage device being used in my PC was the SSD, whilst the HDD sat in one of the bays without any cables.
Now this is the point I think I may have killed my HDD, I went searching for another Power cable and SATA cable for the HDD and came across a box full of mine and my brothers spare cables. He has a Corsair PSU whilst I have an EVGA PSU. I found the cables I needed and plugged the HDD back into my PC but nothing happened. The drive wouldn't start up and is not showing in the BIOS. I then found out that I used a corsair SATA power cable in my EVGA PSU...
I realised that the cable powering my SSD has another 2 slots that can power other drives with, so I found online a SATA power cable extension and used this to plug into the HDD, still nothing.
By using a corsair SATA power cable in my EVGA PSU to power my HDD, have I killed my HDD?
