When I turn on my windows 10 laptop from sleep there is no internet when connected via an ethernet cable, I have to tell windows to troubleshoot the problem. Windows resets the ethernet adapter and gives me this message " "Ethernet" doesn't have a valid IP configuration."

When turning on my laptop from an off state I have internet via ethernet, this only happens when waking up from sleep. When waking up from sleep I still have access to internet via WiFi.

Based on the error message from windows anyone have any ideas of what I can try? Does this seem like a problem with my router because this started happening after I setup pihole and wireguard on a raspberry pi on my home network. This problem does not occur with my desktop and it's always connected via ethernet.

A lot of times laptops simply have issues with this. I've seen the same behavior on some of mine.

If you noticed it happens when you changed your network config, set your phone to a hotspot and connect the laptop to the hotspot and try it that way--it if still has an issue, it's the laptop, if it works correctly, then you may be right and the issue could be related to your new network setup.

I have worked for a cable isp for 14 years, and for 14 years I have been turning off 2 things on Ethernet devices, wake on LAN and power management. It has fixed a variety of weird issues for 14 years, I suggest you turn these off in device manager unless you actually need them to run for some weird reason. The minor power saving is not worth the hassle and no one I have ever met outside of a business needs wake on lan and even then they only thought they needed it and at 11PM I don't have time to educate stupid. I get min 2 hrs of OT regardless of what they think and I run with it, but if you never shut a server down it never needs wake on LAN. It might be something some geek uses to start his computer on the way home from a smart phone bu really, it's pointless in most of what I see.

If this is not feasible, try updating the drivers for the card from the manufacturer website and make sure windows is updated.
