I have a corsair gold power supply 1000W

4070 TI ASUS ROG
12900k i9

G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series (Intel XMP) DDR4 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 3600MT/s CL16-19-19-39 1.35V Desktop Computer Memory UDIMM - Black (F4-3600C16D-32GVKC)

Mag z690 tomahawk motherboard
and running the games i'm playing on a WD black m.2 1tb
I have a Noctua dh-15 for the cpu and it rarely goes above 80C with most of the games I play. 80c being the absolute peak

When I play games that require somewhat of a decent load to the PC I will sometimes experience a stutter that can last from anywhere between .3 seconds to a full 2 seconds.
During this time I lose control of my mouse and keyboard

I am curious if any of you have a list of things I can try to remedy this issue. Running games at maximum performance is already chosen so we can scratch that off the list.

How full is the OS drive and the drive the game is on? Try setting the process for the game to only use the performance cores on your 12900k. Sometimes if the windows scheduler chooses an e-core for the game you are playing the switch over from the p-core can cause a loss in performance or even a stutter. Do you know if the VRMs on your motherboard are overheating? Most likely they are not considering the VRMs on your motherboard, but if you can check it, that would remove a possible cause of the issue.

I appreciate you setting aside the time to suggest these things. I'm currently at work and I will be trying all of these when I get home.

Does a regular monitoring program for the cpu like Coretemp also show the VRMS on the board? or do you have another suggestion in mind for the monitoring.

No problem! No, coretemp only shows CPU temperatures as far as I am aware. If your motherboard has temperature sensors for the VRMs you would be able to see them with a program called HWiNFO. I'll link it here.
