Having problems getting sound!

Hello,
I just installed a new operating system(Windows 7 starter) and I am having problems getting sound.I was using a SoundMax audio driver with my previous OS(Vista).I don't know what the problem is.I have a Pentium 4 and an Intel motherboard.Please help me locate the problem!

Try going to the sound setting (for playback devices) and make sure that the correct device is set as default and active. Windows 7 tends to make some strange default device choices (an optical out port might be considered a device too by the way)
