Having to unblock every file, how do I turn this off?

Hey all,

Ever since I installed Windows 8 a year back I've had to right click / unblock every document I've ever downloaded. Word docs, PowerPoint, etc. It gets annoying as I have to go into File Explorer, find it, right click, unblock, and THEN I can open it, otherwise I just get a warning/error.

Any way I can turn this off altogether?

Thanks!

Solution
If problem is only with things in ms office programs then do this:
The solution here is (for OFFICE 2010) OPEN UP WORD, FILE > OPTIONS > TRUST CENTER. Then click the TRUST CENTER button > Protected View, and UNTICK ALL 3 BOXES.

If problem is with pictures, pdfs, or any other types of downloads this will fix the issue from happening with any new file:
1. gpedit.msc
2. User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Attachment Manager
3.Enable: Do not preserve zone information in file attachments

To fix any old file, move it to a flash drive or any drive formatted to FAT32, then move it back to your PC.

I only need to unblock it once then I don't have problems. The issue is that if I download anything, like from a work email, it's always blocked. Even stuff I send to myself from another email, blocked. Can't I just flip something to default to not block any of it?
