HD 5770 Driver problems

Hello,

I've recently bought myself a HD 5770, and for some reason, I can't update the drivers. Whenever I try, my computer would restart itself right at the detection part.

I've tried to google this, only told me to get C++(x86) and my problem would clear my problems. Totally off, I tried to install these at safe mode, and at the detection part, It said failed to load detection driver or some sort.

I would be grateful for any sort of help you may suggest.

Yes I have, I've installed a new motherboard infact, and I tried the C++ solution, doesn't work for me. Why thank you, I think I'll be visiting these forums alot more...Thanks for the response.

I've done that, but it my computer resets on me at the detecting hardware part. The Drivers from AMD site dont work, however, the drivers from the Sapphire CD work... Is it ok if I use those drivers?

the minimum requirement for the card is a 450w power supply and one gig of ram. If you dont have a good quality power supply, then you could be cutting it pretty close, also your operating system could be using the ram that the video card needs to access, this is just a theory i do not know 100% that it could do this, but as it says it requires a minimum of 1gb i would guess that could be a reason, but i would almost be willing to put money on the fact that its the power supply, can you tell us which psu you have

can you tell us what amperage the psu has, it will say on the side of it, the 12v rail is the important one, but if you can list all amperages, sounds like its the psu though mate, what graphics card did you have before?

i would say your power supply isnt up to scratch, just from reading the specs there man, i would recommend you get a new one as it is vitally important to have a good power supply, something like an antec true 550, wont set you back to much in the way of cash, but is a great performer, i have one powering my system and it is working great, however! would really recommend testing the card in a new system, and if money is tight, speak to the xfx support team, and arrange an rma just to be sure it is the graphics card that is at fault, however, you will have to test extensively first man, cuz if it isnt the card, theres a chance your retailer will charge you a redelivery fee. i hope this helps, let us know how it goes

cool man, when you test the card, use driver sweeper in safe mode, to remove any old drivers that could conflict with your new ones, just make sure you read how to use it properly before using it

Before I do this, Im going to test this replacement 600W powersupply, its not name brand, but it has enough amperes and 12v rail and whatnot, should i use that?

oh theres also a switch in the back..one for 240W and the other 115W, which one should i use?

What country are you in?, if you are on a 220~240v grid then switching that to 115v will most likely blow it.

if that has solved the problem then great, however if you have a better psu, then it would be recommended that you use it, a good power supply is the most important part of any system, people often fail to realize this!

Thanks alot everybody.

For those with a similar problem( and have specs similar to mine), I got more ram then, then uninstalled the drivers, then ran driver sweeper in safe mode, then rebooted, then installed the lastest drivers from AMD.
