I’ve been having some issues with running 2 ATI Radeon HD4850’s in crossfire. I was hoping someone over here might be able to help with some advice.
I had been running the cards fine with no issues using the out-of-the-box drivers from the CD that came with the cards, and then upgraded to ATI Catalyst™ 8.9 Display Driver for Windows Vista (64 bit), and ran with no issues for about a week. Then, one day, I launch Age of Conan and notice right away that there’s a big graphics problem – I’m seeing tiny vertical lines perfectly spaced (about a pixels length) filling the screen. My first impression was one of looking through a 1970’s television with bad reception. I assumed that my problem was perhaps one of the card’s chipsets was going bad. I disabled cross fire, and even removed each video card, one at a time, to test them individually. Each card ran the few 3D games just fine without the glitch. So, I’m thinking maybe one of the internal crossfire ribbon cables (or both) might suddenly be bad. I’ll have to purchase 2 new ones to test that theory out, but I wanted to post here in case someone has encountered this type of problem before and found it to be something simpler, such as a driver fix, etc.
Here’s my system:
AMD Phenom quad core 2.6 GHz
8 gigs DDR2 RAM
Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit operating system
1000W PSU
