So last week I started having problems with a HDD. It got so bad that it would completely freeze my PC if it was used too much, like it would queue up requests with extremely high latency and when the queue was too long it would just freeze. That drive was not my windows drive but somehow as it got worse it made my computer extremely hard to boot, took me 3 hours the last time. My PC would not boot without it either for some reason.

My PC has 4 drives in it. SSD 1 with just windows a few small programs, éc drive. D drive is the one that died and I'm trying to replace. I think the last 2 are something like E and G or F and G that's probably not too relevant. Those drives are basically a Firecuda 2TB HDD hybrid with my steam library, a few other games and the last one is a 250gb SSD put my main games on for faster loadings. Idon't think a lot of this is very important but I'm just trying to be descriptive.

Now here is the problem. Igot myself a new SSD to replace the HDD (D drive) but my PC just won't boot, I get past the bios screen and just see a few - flash on the screen and then get booted to the bios. I tried a bunch of different things from Google for over 3 hours but just can't get anywhere. I tried unplugging anything but the OS drive and the 250 gb SSD(it's a m2 and very poorly placed, I'd have to remove my water cooler to access it). I tried just without the new drive. Itried switching the sata cables. my power cable for the drives I did not try to switch but I did try to change which plug is in which drive, it's one of those 4 connector cable. All my drives are detected in the BIOS. Idid check that it was using my OS drive as the boot drive.

I'm literally at my wits end. Thank you so much if you take the time to help me.

Edit: Well, it looks like I managed to mess it up even more, my 2TB HDD is no longer detected in the bios.

Try booting up your Windows installation media and running startup repair AFTER yuo disconnect all the drives except your boot drive.

To me, it sounds like you installed windows with at least that HDD connected so Windows wrote the actual boot files to the HDD instead.

You usually have to run Startup repair 4 times or so for it to finally recreate the boot block. It's a pain.
