HDD Max Speed with 8kta 3 pro?

Compusa advertising a WD 80GB HDD, 7800 rpm, for $20, July 1, evening
only. Will my board even recognize a 7800 drive? If the drive does run, and
only at the 7200 speed I'm using now, the compusa deal would be attractive.
Need to know now, please, and thanks.

It's a typo. WD does not make a 7800 rpm drive. It's likely a 7200 rpm
drive. The next step up from that is 10,000 rpm drives. Besides, the
platter speed does not matter to the motherboard any way. ATA133 or ATA100
does not matter either. The drive interface will run at whatever speed the
motherboard supports. In other words, an ATA133 drive will run at ATA100
speed if that is the max the motherboard supports. Just make sure it has
the correct interface, ie EIDE or SATA and you'll be ok.
