Hello everyone!

Recently I upgraded my PC with almost everything except the HDD which is:

Western Digital WDC WD2500YD-01NVB1 250GB 7200rpm ( I think.. ) SATA 2

I get really low write speed in Dxtory writing speed test, somewhere around 23mbps.
It probably has to do with the age of the HDD, it has "power on time" ( saw that info in Speccy program ) almost 1400 days = almost 4 years and it's definitely even older than that.
And I think that because of that I can't record 1080p or even 720p without the recorded video fps drop. I get small FPS drop in game, but video FPS drops down to 12-20 fps at some points.

Now I am planing to buy either an SSD or HDD. I don't have money for both.

I can buy HDD Seagate 1TB, Serial ATA III, 7200 rpm, ST1000DM003

or

Kingston SSD 120GB V300

What would be my best option buying another HDD or SSD mentioned above? I would keep the old 250GB for storage and some games, movies and videos and use an SSD for OS and recording games ( not in uncompressed format like fraps since that would fill the space really fast. ) Usually I record up to max 10GB per 1 video and then compress it in VirtualDub and delete the 10GB one, so I think free space shouldn't be a problem.

I wouldn't buy a Seagate drive myself, simply because their failure rate is much higher than Western Digital, and you can find a comparable WD drive for about the same price. Figure under 50 dollars for a 1TB HDD.

I also wouldn't buy anything less than a 240-256gb SSD now with the prices being what they are. About 85 dollars for a 240gb Mushkin Eco2 SSD.

Regardless, your storage drive wouldn't affect the FPS while in game, but could affect recording.

I am really on a budget here. I live in a country where prices are really high for computer components

Is this HDD good?
Toshiba DT01ACA100 1TB

That's the cheapest 1TB I could find ( around 61 dollars, I live in Croatia and prices are really high here, standard is really low )
