HDD splitting problem

Hello, I am using Windows 8.1 at the moment and I decided to split hard disk to more local disks. I have 1TB HDD and wanted to split it to two different local disks, C and D. However, I can't release enought free space to create such a big new local disk. (I wanna have C 300 MB and the rest will be D). But it allows me to release less than I want. The C drive has to be minimum 445 GB and that's really uncomfortable for me. I need bigger D disk. And I don't have 445 GB used in C, I have used just a few GBs. Any suggestions?

Backup the data that is on the drive that you need, remove the partitions, and create new ones.
