I just formatted my 3 TB HDD (full format, 9 hours) and there appeared another 3TB HDD, which doesn't have volume name and letter but currently is formatting itself. What to do? OS: Windows 8.1

Hi there Gondvanaz,

Was the HDD in some kind of RAID array?
You can just take the drive out and reconnect it. You can assign a different drive letter as well.
If the issue persists, I guess you can write zeros on it and see whether this will sort the issue out.

It will not hurt to test the HDD with some HDD testing tool.

Hope this will help,

Nope, it wasn't in RAID array. After closing and reopening of the Disk Management window, it disappeared. Weird, huh?
But 260 MBs from the 3 TB HDD are missing.
Capacity 2794.39 GB
Free Space 2794.13 GB
Difference: 0.26 GB
Free Space: 100%
I have only one 3 TB HDD, btw.
