HDMI connect

Morning i have a Samsung 19" TV and i am trying to connect from my laptop via a HDMI lead . i have connected them and tried to set it up ,i/e get the right resolutions,
but all i get is a blue screen .i not sure what resolution my TV runs at. in fact i am not sure if i am doing anything right .can anyone help.

Your TV set and your computer should talk to each other over HDMI cable as to which resolution is best for the setup unless your TV set is too old to contain the EDID data in its circuitry. You should not need to do anything. If you want to direct your desktop over to the TV set, then use your function key and another key, say F4, to switch to the TV set. Look at the keyboard and you will see. There will be one key that has a monitor picture on it.
