Hey,
So my desk shakes a lot(general bumps to the desk) how well do HDMI cables stay in? And if they become lose can they effect visuals?(e.g refresh rate)

Thanks,
Kieran

I would use HDMI as a last resort.. Display port has higher bandwidth than HDMI and it has locking teeth for the connection. So Display port is better all the way around than HDMI. HDMI does not have a locking mechanism, it will just pull out with enough force, but it should not be a problem for just "general bumps".

Any display cable shouldn't come loose once it's properly attached. Most have clips now that keep it in place and prevents them from falling out. Without a clip it's hard to say, though I doubt it will affect visuals from it being loose until it's completely out.

With bad cable you'd also get (immediately noticeable) color artifacts.
