Hi everyone, I think I am posting in the correct sub forum?

So recently I bought a new router, it is the Linksys ACM3200 and it has been great. However one small issue, since using this I get very bad interference on my xbox headset when gaming. My headset is the Turtle Beach 800x elite pro.

If I turn off wifi in the control settings on the router it solves the issue but I cannot really do this as I have a house full of family who use the wifi. They have gadgets which use the 2.4ghz and 5ghz modes so what can I do to cut the interference out on my headset?

Thanks for any advice :)

Part of the reason your new router causes to much trouble is that it is a pig when it comes to radio bandwidth. It attempts to use 40mhz of the 60mhz on 2.4g and 160mhz of the 180mhz available on the 5g.

From a quick search on those headphones it said it uses 5g but there may be mulitple models. These type of devices will attempt to locate a free channel but that tends to not be possible when you have routers that use all of them....and that is not counting your neighbors who may also have routers like this.

You might be able to turn off 1 of the 2 5g radios and maybe the headphones will find channels they can use. I do not think you can manually set the headphone channels but again I did only briefly scanned the manual.
I suspect either the headset or the router has poor shielding.
Try increasing the distance between the two pieces of hardware and their wiring to see what effect that has.
Try plugging the computer and router in separate power outlets.

Bit of an issue moving either really as I am restricted by where the modem and router is situated. The headset and router are only around 1-2 meters away from each other when in use and I cannot really reposition them because of limited space also.

I was running a Netgear R6220 before and I did not have this issue. The Linksys ACM3200 is more than 3 times the price of the netgear so could poor shielding really be a possibility?

I had a similar problem on my end. I upgraded my wired Xbox 360 controller to a wireless one using the 2.4Ghz Frequency and that interferred with my Logitech G930 Headset which also ran on the same 2.4Ghz Frequency. The only thing I could do was learn to adapt... and unplugging my wireless controller transceiver when not in use.

I suspect you're having problems with the 2.4Ghz Frequency as well. If it's been under 30 Days... you could always return the router and buy a different model... Also, as someone suggested... move the router as far apart as you can.

Another option is to use a different headset. Wireless is convenient, but has its drawbacks as well, and the review is so-so on that model anyways.
A thought that also could help is to put all wireless devices on the 5 Ghz channel so that the 2.4 is broadcasting very rarely. 5 Ghz offers improved wireless speed (typically) but is not as good as the 2.4 in dealing with distance and walls, etc.

Appreciate the replies.

I think it's a case of selling this headset and replacing with a wired headset or turning off 2.4ghz. However my daughters laptop uses this frequency and it does not have 5ghz on it.
