Heatsink causing shutdowns?

I am making a new post since I have discovered my problems with my computer shutting down are a result of the heatsink. (see post: this is the weirdest thing I've ever seen to get caught up).

I took everything apart and put it all back together making sure nothing was shorting anything else out. I turned on the computer with it right-side-up and it shut off again as it did before. Yet, I worked fine when on it's side.

My heatsink fan, a thermaltake volcano 7 +, is pretty big and heavy, so I wondered if maybe the weight of it was pulling the cpu socket when the case is right-side-up, so I turned on the computer with the tower standing up and applied pressure to the heatsink/fan. The computer started up perfectly and worked fine until I removed the pressure, at which point it froze/shut down. Could the weight of my heatsink/fan be pulling the cpu socket out of place and causing my computer to shut off when the case is upright?

I just want your thoughts. My thinking is that I need to invest in a lighter hsf, I am just curious if others have had similar problems. Thanks!

I think you've just answered your own question! I would try re-seating chip maybe, but it's obvious that you have found the problem.
