Hellgate London Lag!!!

I bought Hellgate London recently for cheap, and it's turned out to be well worth the $6 I spent on it. However, during the single player I get random horrible lag spikes that last 4-5 seconds each. They happen about every 2 mins. or so, and it really REALLY drives me nuts. My computer is way above the recommended specs to run the game, so that's not the problem. Anyone got any solution ideas?

get more RAM, the game needs 3gb minimum or it'll constantly be disk-swapping.

Hmm that's a good idea, since I only have 4 GB RAM in my system...seriously, my computer is fine to run the game; I'm just wondering if it's part of all the bugs everyone says the game has, or if it's a graphical option I can change or something small for a quick fix. It usually happens when I kill 3-4 enemies at once, but I know it's not the video card because it's done the same thing with lowest settings. Also, it does it when I'm just running down the street sometimes.

Who knows? Maybe Flagship went under for a reason. The game's still worth $6 though.

lag spikes like this are generally caused by a resource hogging running process in the background. especially processes that make calls to certain dll's or parts of windows kernel which have low level access to the hardware. processes like these will often cause lag spikes as they will do tasks at a higher priority than your games

and if you already know which processes and services you need then download this program and disable the items you don't need

most game lag is caused by items running in the background

(ps closing everything is not enough, most programs these days have startup items which keep the program opened all the time even if you cant see the window

I appreciate the idea/solution, but I'm pretty sure that's not the reason either, as I play many other much more graphically intensive games under the same circumstances, and none of them lag like this at all. It's as if I'm getting online lag spikes...offline.

Lol ok... E6600 no overclock, 8800GTX, 4 GB RAM, Vista Ultimate, latest drivers. Gigabyte motherboard, Antec power supply (I think), HP keyboard, Razer mouse, Acer monitor, custom mousepad, Logitech headset...

I'm having the same problem! My hardware way above the system requirements and I can run games that have higher requirements than Hellgate but still when I come up against heavy number of enemies I get some nasty lag spikes. And I get them even if I turn down the graphic-quality... Any one having any ideas for a solution?

its one of the bugs hellgate london has, my computer does it too, its worse in the sewer areas with a few enemy's and has even blue screened on me...

its a very buggy game.
