I'm in a panic. I ordered my 9700 Pro a few days ago and when I put it in it didn't work. the problem is the monitor doesn't even turn on when it boots up. It gives a long(er than usual) beep when the light on the monitor is supposed to turn green but it never does. I've gone through SO many troubleshooting processes it's not even funny. I had a GeForce2 GTS. It said install the new mobo drivers (ABIT KR7A-133) So I went to VIA's website and installed the newest 4in1 driver. Then I uninstalled the NVidia Drivers (as the manual says). When I got back into windows it was in 16 color, 640x480, and all the graphics were screwed up (all of this was with my old card). I think one of te problems is that when I go to Device Manager the CPU to AGP thing is under under with a "?". I have Windows 2000 just so you know. It tries to install AGP Controller drivers when I boot up with my old card. PLEASE give me any information you can. I'm desperate.

Are you saying that when the R9700 Pro is installed your monitor doesn't show anything? I had a similar problem with the Abit KR7A BUT with a CPU. I had an AXP 1800+ and bought an AXP 2200+ for an upgrade. First I updated the mobo's BIOS to the latest that recognizes the AXP 2200+. The BIOS update was SUCCESSFUL. The I installed the AXP 2200+. The monitor however is not displaying anything even if it is powered on. I was frustrated and switched back to the AXP 1800+ and viola the monitor displays something and it boots up to Windos XP. I switched to the AXP 2200+ once again and the monitor doesn't show anything. Finally I bought a new mobo and sent my Abit KR7A to ABIT for an exchange coz I mentioned it was defective.

My point is the KR7A might have upgrade problems. It's jsut odd that when new hardware is attached as complex as videocard and CPU the monitor goes defective.

I have sold my AXP 1800+ and it works and now using the same AXP 2200+ on a Gigabyte 7VRXP.

btw my AIW 9700 Pro comes in this Tuesday and if I have the same problem as yours then it might not be the KR7A problem.
