Help! Black screen with cursor in everything! Vista

I added an ssd with windows 10 to my parents older vista desktop. It has 4gb of ram, a core 2 duo CPU, 640gb hdd in 2 partitions, intel gma x4500 graphics. I installed windows and the ssd but the partition of their hdd that had windows on it wasn't accessible for some reason. All it said was it was formatted as ntfs... I took out the ssd and now the PC only boots to a black screen with cursor no matter what I do. I have tried safe mode, still black screen with cursor. I tried making vista install media to repair it, still just black screen with cursor. It was checking the disk for some reason before I booted.

Did you have the system finish the drive check? That shows that it was either shut down improperly or there is a drive issue it's trying to repair. Did you setup the drive on the original SATA port is was installed on? Try the hard drive in another system or as an external one using a USB enclosure?
