-No Responses- Closing Request for help-
Hello,
2 problems, 1 of them a security issue. I need help please.
Frustrating issue troubleshooting for a few days. I am using a NAS as an internal media server. I just completed my move and finished setting up my network at home. Cox is my provider. Every device in my house connects to the internet and is networked with each other and to my NAS. My NAS is downstairs connected to the Asus Router which I can reach wireless from any device (iPads, Mobile etc) except with my upstairs desktop PC.
The desktop upstairs is wired to the access point and can hit the internet, ping the NAS but cannot connect to it's UI. I am using a port 80 to port 81 redirect from no-ip to using a chosen name to my external IP (my Cox Box (lol)). My router is then forwarding that request to the NAS which always has that static address. Typing in my external IP takes me to my routers UI (not good)
1) My external IP request in my URL hits my router UI (Big Problem)
2) I can hit the NAS external from phone using the port 80 redirect
3) I can hit the NAS internal with my phone connected to either my 5GHZ or the 2.4GHZ options on the Asus or the Amped Wireless.
4) I can hit the NAS internally from TV, iPad
5) I can connect to the internet on my upstairs desktop
6) I can ping the NAS from the upstairs desktop
7) I have a finder on my desktop that can find and allow me to configure, but not connect to the NAS UI
My desktop is my main pc and it's how I get more content to the NAS for the rest of the house. No firewall on my desktop so I know that's not the obvious issue.
What am I missing on my desktop that isn't allowing it to connect to my NAS but allowing every other type of connection inside or out? I'm self taught on networking so please don't start talking about jigawatts needed to power docs Delorian.
If you need any more info to help, please let me know. The first item in that list is really important that I squash. Discussions that lead to a solution OR just a straight solution would be appreciated.
(UPDATE) I have resolved the external IP hitting router UI issue. THe other issue still remains.
Additional note: On my desktop I can see my NAS on the network, I can double click on it to see the folders MP3 and Movies but if I click on either folder it hands then times out.
Thank you guys,
Chris
