I was wondering if someone could kindly recommend a good motherboard/ CPU combo? I mainly use for general purposes but a lot of Photoshop and occasionally call of duty type games. I don't want top of the line expensive but I do want something that will be able to handle what I intend to do with it.....

Thanks!

And if you have time could you provide links to product....thanks!

Solution
you can get any of this mobos, with the i5 4670K CPU:

AsRock Z87 extreme6
GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-UD5H
MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING

if you're not getting a 4670K to OC then(Intel Core i5-4570 Quad-Core Desktop Processor 3.2 GHZ 6MB Cache- BX80646I54570 - $199.99 amazon), and get a cheaper H87/B85 board for less than a third of the price of that boards I listed. you're not gaining much by paying more for a motherboard you're not taking full advantage of unless you OC.

for 3erd gen kit
Get this instead:

GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H

Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo)

if you have CPU heat problems...

Solution
Thank you!

Ive been kind of partial to Asus motherboards and AMD CPU's. Seems you can get more for your money but I don't know if that is true or not anymore?

What do you think of the Asus sabertooth?

then is not worth geting a sabertooth, if you are not going to practice OC activities.
you can get insted:
Intel
MOBO:ASUS P8Z87-V LGA 1150
CPU:Intel Core i5-4570

if you are an ASUS and AMD fan then go with this combo for sure:
MOBO:ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AM3+
http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-SABERTOOTH-990FX-R2-0-Motherboard/dp/B008YDJHWM/ref=dp_ob_title_ce
CPU:FX8350

Rock solid build, and long endurance

Thank you!

I plan on using HDMI or optical through my home theater stereo system. In that case, is a dedicated sound card necessary? Can I just run HDMI or optical directly from motherboard?
