Help. Computer wont boot past splash screen

Hello, the motherboard doesn't use a SATA hard drive, the hard drive it has now is possibly fried but no spare can be used to test it, the screen will go to BIOS after pressing ESC however nothing seems to work to boot past the HP Splash Screen. It doesn't seem to register any of the drives. Sometimes it goes to the boot menu but once an option is clicked it says it failed. Help please.

What kind of sound is your hard drive making when it tries to be accessed?

Depending on your HP, you may have a diagnostics option in the boot menu.
Otherwise check to make sure BIOS sees it in configuration. If it does and shows the correct size, I would do what cimerian says, check for clicking or odd noises from the hard drive.
