I am planning on building a pc a bit later this year. I would like it to do a mixture of relatively light gaming (BeamNG, Kerbal Space Program, Minecraft, Space Engineers, etc.), photo editing with Adobe Photoshop/Lightroom, Blender 3D modeling, and everyday type activities such as web browsing. In addition, I would like to do programming/compiling, as well experimenting with Tensorflow. Additionally, I would like to dual-boot Linux and Windows 10. Overall, I would like a very well-rounded computer for a budget of roughly $1200. I cannot decide between the AMD Ryzen 7 1700, Intel Core i5 8600k, an i7 8700k with compromises somewhere else, or some other CPU entirely. I am leaning towards the GTX 1060 6Gb for a graphics card. What are your thoughts? Thanks for any suggestions!

I'd be leaning towards the R7 1700. It will outperform the Intel chips for that kind of usage, and will allow you to do much more with that $1200 budget.

Let me know what your location is and I can help with the rest of the build if you'd like!

Getting 16gb ram would reduce the total to 1200 bucks :

For sure I wouldnt use such high end and demanding CPU on the B350, their VRMs are very week.
Get a X370 Gaming or Prime A and you will be better.
