Hi,
I had to shut down my laptop manually after it got stuck by holding the shutdown button, and when I turned it on there was a blue screen, and a message in the sort of "a required device cannot be found, or it is removed" or something like that (I didn't disconnect anything).

So I boot it up from the Windows 10 64 CD (that's the OS I have), and after trying out many fixes on the internet, I bumped into the diskpart fix, and I changed the active partition to another one, to see if it's the problem .

After doing that, windows gave me a "no OS could be found, please press ctrl+alt+del to restart"
Then I boot it up from the Windows CD again, and after the windows loading screen it remains stuck on a black screen (It was loading the boot disc slow before too, but it loaded it up in a few minutes, here I let it run for about an hour without success.)

What can I do?
I have been on this for about 8 hours non stop now and I am REALLY worried.
I downloaded the partition wizard tool which got into a problem too,
and also hiren's boot CD-and in hiren's boot CD I changed the partition and it didn't help (I even got a different message without a blue screen but a black screen on the sole partition on which it didn't give me the "no OS found" message".

Now hiren's boot CD has finally loaded the DOS programs (I think it is called that way) and I will be trying the partition manager when it finishes loading, maybe it will be different than the other partition choosing option that hiren's boot CD has.
I also have no idea why everything is SO slow with the CDs, also with the Win CD which in the installation was much faster.

Please help me, I am so lost and quite afraid, particulary because this computer belongs to my father, and has important files.

Thank you so much!

Hello... Yes... the folder tree in Windows.old folder will look exactly like the folder structure you had before... and locating items will be the same name and mouse clicks away...

But if the HD is failing OR your did manual damage to partitions?... More corruption or damage can happen to those OLD files with any "Write command" B / ...that why the Professional will remove the drive and do a hardware analysis first, using another OS drive... Less un-happy customers. B D ...it's the "Write command" not the "Read command" that could do damage... "and hopefully leave it alone..."

...it's a crap shoot... "do ya feel Lucky kid?... well do you?" ~Dirty Harry

Now after clicking on Install it writes "setup is starting" and there is a loading cursor, and it is loading for around 10 minutes.
I guess this is not normal.
I just don't have the energy for it anymore.
I am on it 13 hours without a break, since I opened my eyes.
I just want to die, seriously.
And I thought life was frustrating before.

I don't have the opportunity to use another HDD, the only thing i'll be able to do if it is possible is to connect the laptop to my desktop somehow, but I doubt it is possible without taking out the HDD, and I won't do that. I will never mess with laptop parts, especially when it is not really my own laptop.

I guess the answer is suicide?

Hello... 15-30 mins is typical...depending on media data speeds... and Yes computers/OS's are stressful situations... relax whatever way you need... but please don't stop what was started, as this will not be good for the files/structure on the HD. You can finish the driver installs and OS setup later, after rest B )

A laptop is not worth it... Look where Hillary is with Lost/deleted files... may have lost a election, and millions in supporter money, but she is still alive B D

You still haven't said what you were doing at the time of the Blue screen? Or with someone else's laptop B /

Thanks for the support, and the psychological help too 😉
My life is a mess, and this is the straw that broke the camel's back.
I am a young talented musician and my hearing got suddenly much worse in the last year and a half, added to that I have OCD and just general depression. I am just sick of this all.

I guess that all the data is lost, since it didn't even notify me that the files will be moved to a windows.old folder when I chose the partition, and it didn't warn me that it will delete the files either-a sign that this drive is empty.
The installation speed is about x200 slower if not more than the speed when I originally installed it. It is 15 minutes on 0%.

Well, great. Another thing I messed up (and just by shutting down the laptop manually with a long press when it was stuck).

By the way, I was with the laptop that kind of belongs to the whole family, and why not with my personal computer?
Well, the answer to this is yet another unfortunate accident-
My 50" 4K FANTASTIC Vizio screen that was used as my PC moniter just got broken about a week ago.

Hello... The laptop hardware/drive could have been on it's way out, and by chance it was in your possession... Platter drives are mechanical devices, and Age, movement and shock take their toll on them... SSD, solid state eliminates a lot this, but data recovery is easier on a platter drive.

I have been in Eng and maintenance and have made bad decision's or been too un focused and tried to make the right one, or being the last one nearest to a natural failure... It's life and things BREAK... Don't make it a personal statement in thoughts and feelings about yourself B / I spent a good part of my Life fixing things... and let me tell you, there was never a day that something would NOT break... you want job security?

This is what I learned from working with the Japanese... they find a problem, fix it, and move on... no time for blame game in their operations or schedule.

Now about your TV/monitor... Any electrical or electronic device will fail within 30-60 days... if you get past this point you can be golden for years... the defects in Mfg. process will show up with in that period... it could be an nanometer defect in a chip? solder joint? or someone else's part used... but this is normal product/production results and trends/stats in all areas.

The digital data world is paperless and thus prone to "0's and 1's"... Backup, backup, and backup again your Personal Work. I am too a musician and spend hours creating, the last thing on my list of a Days/nights session is a backup to another drive... a week/month of work gets backed up to a third drive... It's your only protection with this kind of Data. I too have learned the hard way why you need to do this. B (

If all fails explaining it? Blame it on the "Russians hacking" as it seems to work for our elected and non elected, News corps, etc B D
