i want to build a desktop that can run all games on max settings. is this good enough, what should i change, can i make it cheaper? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2unUe
I would avoid the WD Blue if I were you. I bought a 1TB WD Blue and I hate that stupid thing. It's super loud and constantly thrashing, even when PC isn't doing anything. I was benchmarking read/write speeds at like 80MB/s.
Nice build, but if I were you I'd swap the Gigabyte GTX 770 4GB for Gigabyte GTX 770 2GB. Nobody needs 4GB VRAM. However if it's only a matter of dollars to have the 4GB, stick with it.
And take note that DDR4 RAM is slated to come out in a couple months.
DDR4 as any other DDR update will probably not drastically change anything.
Except by waiting a couple of months, he can save himself the money from upgrading to DDR4, considering they are likely to use a different mobo, and you don't upgrade 4-core cpus except maybe 5 or 6 years.
