Hey i'm struggling to get smooth playback when playing either of the above movie files. i'm hoping its not my setup but just wanted to double check.

My PC Setup is like so.

Windows 10 64x
AMD a8-6600k with radeon hd graphics 3.9ghz
Radeon HD 6670 ( dual graphics with above)
8GB Ram
500 PSU

Philips 40 inch 4k tv connected using dvi dual link to hdmi

Resolution : 2560 x 1440 @ 30hz

Anytime I play a 2k/4k movie fle my cpu jumps to 100% and the movie becomes unstable in one way or another.

I've tried using Dxva native makes no difference.

cheers.

Can my graphics card handle it ? from what i've read if im getting 100% cpu maxing then the graphics card isn't putting the work in, so im guessing either the hardware acceleration isnt working right or it is and my gpu isn't p to the job.

any suggestion would be great, looking for a workaround with what I have and if not then the cheapest upgrade as I only use my pc for movies etc no gaming.

No the GPU is probably fine and your CPU can’t keep up is what’s probably happening. Can you watch 1080 P at least and how does that perform? You should be able to watch HD movies with no problems

never had any issues with 1080p, ive not even had to to make any tweaks just install vlc and play.

with 2k videos and above total cpu useage...…… so if my graphics card is fine how do I get it to do all the work instead of the cpu ?
