Hey so ill start by saying i know nothing in regards to controller setups beyond deadzone meaning.

I have a fps that i love playing and its the only game i play... its Project cartographers version of halo 2.

I bought a brand new xbox one controller using the cable instead of bluetooth for input lag help.

When i play the game im unhappy,. I have to move the thumbsticks a bit more than i would like to get crosshair to move.

IVe verified that this isnt a controller issue, when i use windows 10 calibration i can see the slightest wiggle causes movement of the centre dot.

However with this game this isnt the same level of responsiveness.

How can i achieve this in the game ? there is no settings that i can see and its annoying me as the game relies on twitch shots.

thanks

Reddit link showing dead zones in the halo series.

Theyre fairly big and they're not user definable in game.

The master Chief collection (which includes all the halo games) does have totally user definable dead zones and sensitivity, the version you're running doesn't.

I don't actually see any way around this, using xpadder and setting the right stick as a mouse may in essence manage to do this but I can't help with the actual steps required.
I'm leaning towards the game being the issue. You can try and work with another game/title and see if the sensitivity reported back is the same. The fact that you've looked into the calibration tool in the OS tells us, as well, that the controller is fine.

Yeah i said in the OP that it isnt the controller as ive already tested with calibration tools and can see movement with the slightest touches and ive also mentioned there is no settings within the game to improve this.

My question is how can i achieve this through other means....

Thanks

Thanks madman

yeah this was my chain of thought id need a program that allows to bypass the games settings.. something that runs in minimised.. hopefully somoene might read this that is knowledgable in it.

can confirm from above link that is the area i feel it in... however when using the xbox 360 controller wired before it broke i didnt feel it quite as much... and ive noticed in extras folder there is a 360 xinput file... so maybe this made the 360 controller perform better.

Can also confirm i tried playing microsofts official halo 2 via xbox game pass and in setting there is the option for deadzone adjustment... adjusted to 0% and plays like a dream... but the version of the game itself is horrible takes an hour to find games etc...

So still prefer cartographers version would just like to get this workaround for their version cheers.

I've been googling this still and all I've found is what I think is your own post on some halo forum 🤣

Honestly think you may be out of luck, found a couple of instances where people have managed to reconfigure with xpadder or x360ce and the issue still remains to a big extent.

As a controller user myself I know its infuriating but you're gonna find the general opinion is keyboard and mouse for competitive play!
