My friend recently bought an old PC off ebay for retro gaming and it has an odd PCI slot that I've never seen before pictured here. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/81914627486646272/462969346629828618/IMG_20180701_0013523.jpg

The computer is an IBM NetVista 6579-TAU. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/81914627486646272/462969347657302027/IMG_20180701_0017110.jpg

The motherboard is an IBM 59P7151. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/81914627486646272/462969348596695054/IMG_20180701_0015404.jpg

The manual was totally unhelpful. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/281724/Ibm-Netvista-A20.html?page=48

Every website I've found just says it's a PCI slot but it's clearly not "just" a PCI slot.

Based on my research it's not a 64bit PCI slot as it doesn't have enough extra pins for that. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/15/PCI_Keying.svg

The slot is also not a PCI-X as that is far longer with completely different keying. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/66/ZRAID_at_PCI-X_at_FSC_Primtrgy_TX200_S2.JPG/1200px-ZRAID_at_PCI-X_at_FSC_Primtrgy_TX200_S2.JPG

It is of course not a PCI-E slot as this board is older than that standard and it's not an AGP, MCR, ACR, or ISA slot.

I don't see any matching slots here either. https://orig00.deviantart.net/f0aa/f/2016/031/c/a/computer_hardware_chart_2_0_by_sonic840-d9pyk3j.png

Solution
From the manual
" 32-bit PCI 2.2 (5v) with longer slot* - e**
* Longer connector has LAN Connect Interface (LCI)** ethernet adapter in some models"

look like proprietary

Ummm... If you look at the first linked image, I think the OP is referring to the second expansion slot from the right. The PCI slot with the extra tail.

I am absolutely not talking about the brown AGP slot to be clear. I'm talking about the white but slightly longer PCI slot. I think rgd1101 figured it out. I guess I overlooked that in the manual somehow. I assumed it was some proprietary nonsense. I wonder what to does that the network card needs that a normal slot doesn't supply.
