Hello guys,

I have following specs

GA-P35-DS3l mobo
Q9550 2.83Ghz ( upgraded from q6600 )
8GB ddr2 800mhz ram

When I try to install Windows 10 I get error Compare exchange 128 that this CPU doesnt support some feature. But as far as I googled people could run it on this cpu and before i changed the cpu it was working well with q6600 and this motherboard. I tried using regedit to bypass compatibility check but there is no folder OSUpgrade. I tried both windows 10 and windows 8.1 same error.

Is there any way to fix it?

Update BIOS to latest version.
Retry installing windows 10.

If BIOS update doesn't help, then install 32bit version of windows 10. Your ram will be limited to 4GB.

Or stay with windows 7.

Or get a new pc. Your current one is 12-13 years old.

This error might be coming because of two reasons either Outdated BIOS and secondly CPU lacks CMPXCHG16b Instruction. To search for CMPXCHG16b Instruction, try using the search query into the CPU info tool that carrys complete information about motherboard, processor, and memory: <CPU Model> CMPXCHG16b. Or else try updating your BIOS or else Install Windows again.
