Something is wrong with the LED light on my PC's power button. For several months, its brightness has been flickering periodically—getting dimmer and then bright again. Today, it completely turned off, but after several minutes, it lit up again. I opened the case but didn’t find any loose connections. The PC itself works without any issues. I suspect the LED bulb is slowly dying, but I’d still like to hear your thoughts.

You could check with the case manufacturer to see if they have a replacement button.

Might be worthwhile to purchase a cheapo external power button and LED set to see if the issue is motherboard side.

In reality even if it is going out it shouldn't be an issue for operation. If you don't have other lighting you can find various add on kits which support ARGB or a strip light and so on such that you can determine power from that instead.

There are generally separate motherboard connections for the Power Button and the Power LED, so your power switch with both will have two lead pairs coming off of it--make sure the LED one hasn't come adrift.

You could test the light in your button by temporarily plugging it into the HDD LED connection which is obviously working in your video.

I had the same issue with the Power LED on a 10-year olf media player PC. The blue LED flickered on and off, died and came back a week later.

In the end I removed the faulty blue LED and replaced it with a 30-year old green LED from my spare parts box and soldered it to the flying lead. The blue LED was far too bright and the green LED is less distracting when watching TV.

If you know how to solder, a new LED costs roughly $0.10 to $0.50, depending on style and colour. If the LED is an integral part of the switch, you might be looking at $5 for a new illuminated switch. The trick is to find one that will fit in the hole on the front panel.

perhaps you connected the HDD LED to the power LED
The HDD LED is the red one. I'm positive the connectors are connected correctly because
1. I assembled the PC a few years ago. I followed the motherboard's manual.
2. It's been several months since the LED problem started. Prior to that, everything worked fine.

Reseat the power switch plug/plugs on the mobo....test.
