Urgent advice and help needed:

I am about to buy a new computer, trying to go for the maximum I can get right now. The main uses of the new machine will be multi media based and web surfing BUT I generally do 5 things at once (cd ripping/burning, music creation, video editing, anti-virus, general office programmes and web surfing). As you can see, i tend to demand alot, but I am not an extreme gamer so do not require a CPU the deals with one task very efficiently/quickly. I think I need a CPU that will handle extreme multi tasking of multi media applications.

Any advice, help, suggestions....all welcome. Thanks alot!

The Intel 950 is a good chip but then again, the 4800 is too. Me being an Intel enthusiast, I would opt for the 950. I've seen that chip in action and it does perform very well.

Both of them will run great with ups and downs for both.
950 will overclock like mad with proper cooling
X2 4800 is a very good gaming chip(though the gfx card comes into question).
You can't get wrong with either of them. 😀

Get a bag...

and then get 2 pieces of paper.

Write on one -

Intel

The other -

AMD

Put them in a bag.. shake well.. and pull one out of the bag, and wella!!

Owell... I'd say very hard choice to make..

Now right there, is one very smart genious.

I did it that way once, it was one of those, she loves me, she loves me not, she loves me, she loves me not .....

I'm just glad I didn't mention.. put 10 pieces of paper with intel, and 5 AMD - or vise vera 10 AMD / 5 Intel- shake well - but then that would be too much of a benchmark thing.

Of course I do like your idea... get a flower..

pluck one.. dah dah dah daaaa <-intel sound>
pluck another, or AMD
pluck another dah dah dah daaaa
pluck another, or AMD...

I think it would still work.. perhaps he should do both... or best out of 3 of 4. 😀
