[SOLVED] Help! Internet connection issues only with certain applications and programmes

I think i may have a connection issue. But it only affects certain applications and programs. For instance, Steam works, Origin works, blizzard works, Google chrome works perfectly however, Epic games doesnt work and Windows updates seem to also not work too and so does skype. I dont know what the issue is and have restarted my PC and my router several times already. I even unplugged my Lan cable, power cable to the router as well as restarted my pc by switching off the power supply. Nothing seems to help. If anyone knows how to resolve this issue it would be greatly appreciated. I have also have also ran all applications and programmes listed above on my laptop before just to see if it was just my main PC and my laptop ran all the applications normally like they should.

Motherboard : Asus z270 A prime
power supply : Corsair cx650m

What are you using for your DNS service? These types of problems are usually a DNS problem.

OK. The simplest way to see if you are having a DNS problem is to manually update your network interface to use Google DNS. This article -- https://www.howtogeek.com/167533/the-ultimate-guide-to-changing-your-dns-server/ has how-to info. START with the "Windows PC" section.
It is possible you have malware that is messing up your DNS. You should also check with malwarebytes.

I have just done what the article told me to do and mannualy changed the Dns server address. However the problem is still here and that hasnt done the trick.
I have also done a scan and no viruses have shown up.
do you have any other suggestions ?

You can TEST the DNS with the nslookup.exe command in a CMD window. -- https://www.howtogeek.com/168896/10-useful-windows-commands-you-should-know/

Try and do an nslookup.exe on http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com That would tell you if DNS is the problem.

i have just done that and my server says
server : dns . google
i have also tried this with the auromatic dns server adress and found out that when on automatic, the dns server changes to unknown (i also flushed dns with every try just in case) however, when changing back to the manual dns server of 8.8.8.8 , the server changes back to google.

But does the nslookup return an IP address for the windows update URL? If not then you still have a DNS issue somewhere.

One other though ... Have you ever installed a VPN? That could be messing up things.

i tried it with windowsupdate.microsoft.com is that the correct domain?
sorry i am very very new to this stuff this is literally my first time dealing with connectivity issues

i also tried wikepedia.org and it didnt give me a return like the one in the example

One other though ... Have you ever installed a VPN? That could be messing up things.

VPN wasnt on and i made sure by uninstalling all of it
i also checked if i had logmeinhamachi on and it was off (deleted that too in case)

There could be residual effects from either of these. You could try an using the system file checker -- https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...er-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system

It may take a clean OS install to get this back to consistent behavior.

cleaned the entire pc and it went back to normal
