HELP, Ipad air 2020 or a laptop?

Hi, let me give some context. I need a laptop or ipad for school and going into college. i will be taking notes on it, doing general school work and will be using it for home revision. I was thinking about the ipad air 2020 because its lightweight and can get the job done as it can be paired with a keyboard and work with google services. The downside is that it has limited apps compared to a laptop. Also a laptop has more power and more accessibility. I will be getting a laptop anyway in about 2-3 years for gaming and uni so i dont know if its worth buying a mid range laptop or an ipad air. many thanks for any help.

Like the above answer it really depends on the cost. If you are doing general school work, in my personal opinion i would recommend getting a laptop. the main fact is in College (in Australia, college is Year 11 and 12) I did Information Technology and I had to download software like Visual Studio Code, Notepad++, Photoshop etc. and these things worked pretty well on my laptop which is mid-range and on my Surface Pro 4 which I upgraded from in Year 12. Like I said iPad is good for note taking but a laptop would be a little bit better due to the additional features.
