ryzen 5 3600 is 244 dollars and ryzen 7 2700 is 217 dollars

At those prices go for the 2700, you're not going to notice any difference if you're not using a top tier gpu and a 144htz screen!

The 2700 is still a rock solid cpu performance wise and $217 is a crazy price.

Between the gaming plus, tomahawk max and Pro take the cheapest one, they're all solid boards - I own the Pro 4 myself.

A good budget psu would be the corsair cx450m.

Before anything else, make sure that board is worth buying. As G6400 pentium + h410m board probably outperforms your i3. Probably you have better sell that i3.

No need of aftermarket cooler, use the stock one.

As for graphics, i would go rx470/rx570 or gtx1650 super at least.

500gb ssd over that 1tb hdd

I guess his reasoning is that future games will require more core & threads

The 3600 is imo a sweet spot for now, at least for gaming

also if you go with 3600 you'll have room to upgrade your GPU to around 2060/S

what's your use case?

ok but forms and pages suggest to go with 5 3600 any specific reason you think ?
What are you primarily going to use your computer for?? If gaming Yes you can go with 3600 since higher clock speed will give better single core performance ifyou are a some kind of content creator cpu with high cores and threads gonna help you or if you wanna use your cpu for a long time 8/16 will give your more few years of reliability and being gpu bottlenecked is better in my opinion since you will only need to change your gpu in future but if your cpu is bottlenecked in few years you will not only have to get cpu but also mobo.

If you are only going to see benchmark it will show a lot of difference, i did see some gaming comparison are you really going to notice 10-15fps in real world performance in front of your eyes.... Hmmm i doubt and i say long life its because games are becoming more demanding they will require more cpu power in future and that is for sure just check for some online gaming comparison dont see the average and benchmark charts see the live framerates

when i checked it earlier ryzen 7 2700 was somewhat behind ryzen 5 3600 without oc i was not thinking of taking ryzen 7 2700 because of its 2nd gen + years it can last

I did some more research about and i guess, yes 3600 would be better for gaming will give you few framerate more and even though 2700 would be good for gaming a bit slower ,i guess you should go for 3600 in future you might get more out of it , but still they arent same in many aspect you can go with 3600 but since 3rd gen has more L3 cache(which i forgot initially) and has higher clock speed. More cache doesn't improves gaming but in future who knows
But it's worth keeping 2700x in consideration
So for;
Gaming 3600
Content creation 2700x(ik i included 'x' bcz 2700x is close in price with 2700)

Everybody's darling is currently the tomahawk max, the Asrock Pro4 is pretty good, but since it's cheaper than the tomahawk there're bound to be some tradeoffs, the gaming plus wasnt mentioned as much as tomahawk and it's lower in class

the thing is, if you're not into overclocking, these mobos will probably run stock processors fine. you should also consider features like I/O ports, PCI slot & M.2 layout, and personal aesthetic choice

ok i was thinking on gpu side rx570/rx580 or rtx 1660/1660super

1660 is nice, one of my choice when upgrading on a budget, but to be unbiased, have you consider the new 5600XT?
