Help me choose my next gpu

Looking for a new GPU around the $500-600 aud dollar mark tossing up between a gtx 970 and a r9 390x.

No fanboys please, just want straight forward answers. Should i go 390x because of the 8gb vram and also i heard amd will run better on dx12, or a gtx 970 ftw ?? Or if you guys know of something better. Cheers!

I have a Corsair RM750

GTX 980 would be great but just a little pricey for me, couldnt justify spending $1000 bucks on a card to my gf haha

I think R9 390 x is a better choice and has 8 GB vRAM but 970 only has 3.5GB!!!!!
Your PSU is important too.

If you are asking which is better, a GTX 970 or an R9 390X, then the 390X is the higher performing card (almost as good as a 980), has more VRAM and better equipped for dx 12.
The only draw back is it uses a lot more power, but if you have a decent PSU (at least 600W) then you'll be fine.

i was leaning 390x because of the 8gb

I have a 750w psu so power isnt really a problem there, so many mixed reviews out there about the 390x are only reason im still deciding, performance is key for me, im not interested in looks or noise level, any opinion on which brand to go for eg msi, gigabyte, asus? cheers1

Too be honest i probably could for the the $800, fury is like $1000 atm i think but i dont game seriously and just need a decent future proof card, with amd benefitting more from dx12 ill probably go 390x after talking to your guys atm

So if you don't game seriously , 390x is a awesome choice for you, It's pretty good card even for a serious gamer!!!
It can handle the games at ultra settings very well with 60 FPS!!!

With a budget od between $500-600 aud, then you're probably looking at a msi or Asus. I don't know which company you prefer to buy from, but I did find this card,
