Hi all,

I've budgeted myself £350 this month for some PC improvements

I'm torn between 2 options.

1. Upgrade case and start a custom cooling loop

2. Upgrade my motherboard and CPU.

I want to do both eventually. Here are some specifics on my current system

PSU: 850w evga supernova gold
Case: corsair carbide spec 01
CPU: 8320@ 4.4
Cooler: H55 I with 2 sp120 in push pull
GPUs: MSI HD 7990
Ram: 16gb 1600 hyper x fury.

Current choices for option 1:

-Thermaltake core v71 or Thermaltake Core X9
- Custom water loop for CPU at first. Making sure pump and reservoir are suitable for future expansion.

If I go with this option I will most likely get the next architecture of I5 or the equivalent with suitable motherboard when released.

Option 2:

Pick up an i7 4790k and suitable motherboard for immediate performance enhancement.

I will eventually want to do something like option 1 also.

Which order would you guys do things.?

well to start, i have a few questions for ya. What do you normally use this PC for? gaming, editing, CAD?

if your only gaming i really dont see a purpose to switch over to the I7/mobo. Its an expensive change with not very much gains tbh. even with some editing stuff.. i dont think its worth the $. before i spent the money on switching i would personally get a custom liquid cooling loop going and use the money on better components for that and then start messing with overclocking your current cpu. maybe after that even get a liquid block for the gpu and add that into the loop and start over clocking that as well.

so i guess in my opinion i would purchase the case and custom loop stuff. the core x9 looks fun too btw. im excited to see...

Thanks very much for that I think in my heart I wanted to do the case and loop. I'm defo going to wait for the X9 I think. My pc is mainly for games with some cad work occasionally.
