Help me find a printer preferably HP

I think my HP printer has finally bit the Dust, event though its not that old (3-4 years), and never used it that much, but it no longer recognizes the black cartridge.

I would like to buy another printer, budget is $100 at most, and I need it to have the same quality in printing and scanning as my old pinter or better.

why would you want hp? I have one and recently found out that the cartridges have chips on it that tell the printer to stop working properly after the expiry date. btw try to remove the cmos for an hour first and see if the printer works again after that. If that doesnt work try any brand but hp.
