First it insures proper grounding; Second if done correctly insures no shorting and third it eliminates possible flexing and stresses on the components. You have spent considerable time and endured much stress, take the 15 minutes it will need to screw the board down, install the ps and try it. Also I have seen a number of people brick their systems by improper handling and static electric issues.

ok, fair enough, I will do it, damn, all boxed ready to ship back, hey ho, at least I havent booked courier yet. Thanks for the input, something else to try & my god, I am trying lol.

sadly after all that, same prob, red led shining so bright a 747 nearly landed on my head lol

Does look nice in the Haf X tho, shame I cant use the damn thing

lol, thanks, well mobo AND CPU been returned, courier been & gone, hopefully theyll get 2morro, quick test & either refund or sort, Im happy with either but still a pain, the whole saga turned from excitement to pure disappointment in 1 push of a START button

Watcha peeps, just an update & another question

Mobo has returned to vendor, vendor agreed already mobo faulty & is refunding me - shame it had to come to this, anyway, just a quicking, should I stick with Crosshair IV, pay an extra £50 & het the V or save £20 & get the ASRTock 990FX Extreme4 ?

Appreciate ur views, thanks

actually another thought, do I go intel & save more money & use my Q6600 CPU ?? if so, what mobo lol, too many choices arrrrggggghhhhhhhh

Well the Q6600 doesn't 'suck', it depends solely on the Games. In some instances you'll see 2% gains and on other games 30%+.

You'll need to do some researching on: CPU vs CPU + Benchmarks per Game.

I have an LGA 1366 and both the SB and SB-E didn't impress me at least for Gaming, so I'm struggling with ditching my 980X, and probably will wait a generation and simply update/replace my GPUs.

The ASUS Crosshair IV is typically a good and solid MOBO. IF some idiot was tossing it around during shipping like a Frisbee then is that a MOBO issue or the idiots?!

ok thanks for the swift reply. Even as I typed it, I thought, hell, why do I want the Q6600, well I dont lol, so Im prob gonna stick with the 1090T, just mobo now, really not sure what to get, I know this sounds silly but because Ive had the IV, ableit it didnt work, it seems that if I get another one, I wont have anything new to play with lol, its a hard choice, really not sure what to do, if it was u, where would u spend ur money ? based on the fact I primarily will be gaming mainly FPS (cod bf3 rage etc) & Racing anything fast lol. thanks for ur time

Today, the SB + SLI (EVGA GTX 570/580) or the 3GB vRAM for multiple monitors, Gaming i5-2500K, Photoshop/Video i7-2600K, RAM DDR3-1600 CAS 8 2x4GB min, MOBO on the cheap but good the ASUS P8Z68-V PRO, and an SSD OCZ Vertex 3 120GB+ plus RAID 1 HDD 1TB/7200.

Well I've only recently bought the 6950 xfx xxx version so crossfire is on the horizon so not going sli, to so far I'm happy. Looked at Sabertooth, might sound silly but I don't like the colour and as I've a haf x case looks do make a difference. I was just about to buy an SSD au was looking at corsair force 3 120GB

lol, dont minceit 😉

just had a lok, the mobo & i5 will be abouy $100 more expensive in UK than an IV with 1090T tbh, for $100, I'll prob stick with IV + 1090T although that little gremin keeps saying AM3+ in my ear lol to add, the Vertex 3 is $80 more expensive thatn the Corsair, damn, this pc lark is expensive !
