Okay to make quick, I'll ask this, Why isn't my graphics card ,(Sapphire Radeon R7 240 1 GB) working with my desktop!? Desktop is a (Compaq Presario CQ5500F)... Things to know beforehand: I replaced the CPU with an (AMD Phenom X4 9750) and the PSU with an 800W PSU. I'll be MORE THAN WILLING to provide more information if what I shared is insufficient to your understanding on why this graphics card isn't working. I mean it fits in its slot and the little fan even spins... I'm really frustrated and just want to game it.

I've removed the integrated graphics already and seated the graphics card properly.
Here's the motherboard: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=dk&lc=da&dlc=da&docname=c01925534#N117

His model does support GFX card ---ya the one hp put in it

dude there hundreds of these threads here at toms and I just went to hp site on his computer and for what I see just memory is allowed .. that's the way these store bought computers are. as I said these are not nowhere near the type of open motherboards like we buy from asus or whoever I really hope he gets it working but just like the rest I don't hold my breath on that.. now I sent him a trick to try that can fool the bios into accepting the card may work may not ... now I said what I had to on this as I try to do others in this mess and some have taken theres to a shop just to find what I said above is true . all I can say now is I hope he finds good luck and does...
Thanks so much for your replies everyone, I now have a better understand on pesky little beast of a problem. Just a thought on my part though, before I try revising my motherboard with mods... would replacing the RAM stick with a different one work?

Oh so should I just purchase a 'unlocked motherboard' that'll fit this case instead? or what about using a different RAM stick?... or the motherboard is the issue here huh?

Do you have another computer you can test the GPU in? Or someone you know that has one?
Or otherwise any computer shop that can test the GPU?

Make sure it isn't bad before going through any more trouble.

But yes you could replace the motherboard with a better one. You would gain the ability to tweak many settings that are hidden in OEM systems as well. But changing a motherboard can be a bit involved.

Getting another motherboard absolutely will work, just make sure you get the right socket, and memory module (DDR2) It will remove any trace of Compaq. So yes, thats a viable option and much much easier than trying to flash a BIOS.

ok heres a deal on this so ... acording to the hp link he posted that board is am3 and ddr3 memory... the chip he upgraded is am2+ for ddr2.. someone check me out on this ... if so then he's got a bigger issue now with this and dont help his cause also if you google this and go to a usa or English hp site the board is not the same on them , so now I don't know what were are even working with here
