HELP!!! Motherboard fire!!!

well i wont get a new mobo untill mid next week and then i will test my components, i could not find anyone to test cheapily so I guess this is my only option. If everything is f**ked and i need new components, can someone recommend a cheap mobo that will allow for some mild OCing, and a cheap videocard. Want a tv tuner eventually and gaming is not that important so would it just be better to get a card that can handle it all? could someone recommend one? hopefully I will not need to do all of this but just in case as I already spent alot of money in the first place. Expensive lesson learned. Also, when I reapply the processor I am going to need some thermal paste, correct? I have heard a pea size drop is enough but then I read a an article on this sites main page saying to dab small dots all over the processor. Can someone explain their application method?
