[SOLVED] Help! Msconfig is ruining my life

My pc was showing only 2 cores even tho i have 4 cores on my i5 4460 cpu, so I unchecked the number of processors in msconfig advanced boot since i read that some people fixed it like that, and now im getting blue screen, EVEN IN SAFE MODE... i tried running msconfig from cmd, cant find the file specified, tried to restore system, the only point back in time was today ( yes i selected the show other points ) and it didnt fix it, windows repair tool didnt fix it.. i literally tried everything in my power... os is windows 7 ultimate 64 bit

Try to disable 2 cores in the BIOS of your rig and boot in safe mode. Let us know the results.

Oh wait... active processor cores, i've set it to 2 and booted in safe mode, its working i can see my loading screen again..

But the main issue still exists, i can only see 2 out of 4 cores and in bios it goes to 3 max.. any idea on how to fix this? Cpu unparking?

Ok, now we know that you have a problem.

I had the exact same problem with a 6700k processor. Solution? RAM to Intel since 1 or 2 cores of that CPU should be defective and are the cause of your problem.

If you want (or can) test the CPU in another rig go ahead, but you should have the same results.

RAM to intel? What does this mean? Defective cpu as in, some of the cores arent working or are broken?

My bad, laptop keyboard are small.

I mean RMA, the CPU is defective and you can ask for a warranty process.
