Help no connection to Internet

Hi, have a G6 333mhz gateway with 256 megs of ram. Have a Linksys
10/100 lan card. Have run the diagnostic program and it (the card) appears
to be good.

Have done the deleting and re installing of the card. The only thing I
have not done is take it out and replace the card. I just don't seem to be
able to connect through my cable modem with my desktop. I have checked my
cable connection from computer to modem and even replaced it to no avail. I
just cannot access the internet. As you can see it (modem) works with my
laptop.

I ran the test program that came with the LAN Card. I followed it as
far as I can see to a T, is there something I must be missing? Thanks for
any suggestions. I think I have gotten to the point I might just be missing
something from doing it all so many times. I hate asking without trying to
fix it myself.

Hi Lee, have you checked your firewall settings?

Hello Jack the Genius !!

Jack I don't know who you or what you do for a living are but you solved
my problem. I have worked on this computer for over a week solid and it
never even dawned on me about the firewall (Norton). Not even sure how the
settings were changed but it turned out to be the firewall after all, would
a gentleman's handshake suffice or even a virtual hug for saving my bacon!
Appreciate the snappy come back and the answer to my problem. I guess at
age 65 I am slowing down in the mental processes!
