I built my pc about a month ago and I got new fans and led strips today to put in. I put in the fans and it started up fans working everything fine. I put in the led strip and it started up started smoking priding a weird odor near the cpu and I turned it off. It won’t even power on now but the orange motherboard light comes on. Please help!!

Application: For Digital-RGB equipped Cases, Controllers and Motherboards. (+5V, Data, NA, GND).

Directly from your link. That's a 3 wire system, 5v/data/blank/ground.

12v RGB (Digital RGB is ARGB, addressable, has rainbow ability) is different. That's 12v/R/G/B which is amperage controlled. You ran 12v directly to ground through a 5v capable wiring system.

The strip is toast at a minimum.

You'll need to unplug the pc, allow the psu time to reset from the protective tripped circuit, and pray it boots up. If it doesn't, most likely the motherboard is toast, possibly the psu and/or cpu as well.

How were those LED strips powered? What kind of fans did you get? If they were RGB fans did you make sure to plug in the RGB cable into the right rgb header? To me it sounds like your motherboard is fried/dead.
They were powered by my motherboard. They were rgb fans but the fans were working just fine before I started working on the led strip.

Can you provide a link to the model fans and LED strip you bought and pics where you plugged them into the motherboard (you can upload pics to imgur and copy-paste links here).
Here is the link Phanteks NEON Digital-RGB LED Strip M1 (PH-NELEDKT_M1) – 1x 1-Meter Smooth Lighting Strip, Full-Color Range, Flexible mounting https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XLPH8WW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_hsw-Fb184V2GP
And I plugged it into the top right led right here

The top right? The one with the 4 pins that says 12v? There's your problem, that LED strip requires a 5v connection, you needed to plug it into the 3 pin JUST BELOW that 4pin connection. You most likely shorted your board... There's no recovery from that. Maybe if you just got your motherboard you can RMA it but sorry, you can't repair a shorted board. Hopefully your CPU and other components aren't damaged.

Difference between 5v and 12v
