building my first ever system, been strongly recommended against using vista.

what do people reckon is the best OS for a new builder?

also has to be quite cheap have about £60 including Vat

please all help appreciated

such as if i go with xp or vista which version?

or how long will xp be worth running will it be unsupported?

If you want "quite cheap", you'll have to go with an OEM version of XP Home Edition or Vista Home Basic Edition... those will be your two cheapest options.
