This happens on Windows 10 and now even worse on Windows 11 dev preview. Obvious lag when mousing over interface in File Explorer. The whole interface feels sluggish. I had this problem for a while now. I thought it was my old NVIDIA Quadro 2000 GPU. I recently upgraded to the AMD RX 6700 XT (Bought from AMD.com.) This did not fix the problem. The display resolution of my computer is at 1400p 164 Hz on my Dell S3220DGF.The computer feels fluid on everything but the File Explorer. It looks like the OS installed on an HDD. When I run SDD benchmarks on the SSD advertised speeds is shown. Two days ago, I decided to fresh installed Windows 10 while keeping settings and installed data this did not fix the problem. This was down with Windows 10 iso made in Windows 10 media creation tool . Today I decided to try out Windows 11 dev preview. Everything seems normal but the sluggish File Explorer issues I had on WIndows 10. I am confident this is a problem that transferred over to Windows 11 from an old issue on Windows 10, that needs fixed on my system. I have SSD trim on that is set to trim every week. Can someone help me out? I have uploaded a video of the lag and sluggish movement of the File Explorer on YouTube.

My specs-

SSD-Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus NVME with installed ORICO M.2 2280 SSD heatsink

CPU- AMD Ryzen 2700 non-X- Not overclocked and has a be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 as cooler.

GPU- AMD RX 6700 XT

Ram- Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200 16gb (2x8gb) at- 3466 MHz (Overclocked from 3200 stock) Problem happed at stock speed too.

Solution
when running the Windows 11 installer did it ask if you wanted to upgrade
or did you go for a fresh install?
if a fresh installation, than there's no way it can be inherited from a previous Windows 10 issue.

if you truly believe the issue is a malfunction of the OS;
perform a total disk wipe and fresh install of either OS again.

if you've successfully wiped the drive of all data and performed a fresh install there would be no possible way for the issue to carry over to the new setup.
it would have to be an issue with your own hardware.

I did not total wipe the OS. I just joined the insider program and updated to Windows 11 that way. I also don't really want to reinstall everything again.

I fixed the problem by using the Reset your PC option in Windows 11. I backed up my data and wiped the system. I noticed right away that File Explorer is running as normal. So smooth and lag and sluggish free. The computer is a lot more responsive too. I wonder what went wrong with the system, that even refreshing and installing Windows 11 the problems stayed. I am so happy that now, it feels like I have a brand-new computer, even though I am on the same device. I am now stuck on Windows 11, but I don't care.
