I need to get this Sound Blaster Audigy Player card to work
in DOS. I have tried everything I could in autoexec.bat etc
with the line SET BLASTER=A400 I4 D1 etc, but nothing works.
Then I read somewhere that the Audigy can't work in DOS??
Then I read a review of this soundcard somewhere, stating
that it will work in DOS. I have tried many different
combinations with the autoexec line, not only 400 etc.

I mainly use Win2K, but I have a bootdisk with DOS to play
old DOS games. As far as I know, the IRQ of the card is 4,
and the I/O thing is 400. I don't know about the DMA thing
though, but I read somewhere that the default is 1.

So, can anyone help me out?

The Live! has a TSR that emulates an SB16 in real mode DOS. It works pretty well but requires EMM386 to be loaded. I've heard that this TSR works on the Audigy as well. Try downloading the latest Live! drivers and finding that program. Good luck!

Thank you, but I didn't quite understand. Exact which
drivers will I need to download?

You need to get the Win9x drivers off Creative's web site (creative.com). In the package there's a DOS program that may allow your Audigy to emulate a Sound Blaster 16 in real mode DOS. The name of the program is SBEINIT or something like that. I used it for a while before getting a real ISA sound card for full compatibility.

The Audigy, like any PCI sound card, is not hardware compatible with the ISA SB16. DOS applications have to be "fooled" by an emulation program.
