I am running windows 3.1 in a VM, so that I can run some old games. (Tonka construction) Reason: childhood memories. so I got the sound running. I got the graphics running. and everything is fine. except the "da-dum!" at every startup is getting annoying. so my question is, how do I change the startup noise for windows 3.1?

They are WAV sounds. locate them, and change the TADA.WAV (I think that's the one you're talking about) to whatever sound you want.

It's the same as in later Windows. In Control Panel there is an entry for "Sound" with an ear in the icon. Just change the selected .wav file for "Windows Start" to something else, or nothing.

control panel? remember, this is the oldest category in windows, I actually have windows 3.1 installed on the machine.
EDIT: Nevermind, I found the control panel, new question, how do I transfer a file into Dos Box?
EDIT2: Duh, it mounts files from your hard drive.
